Russian Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor) monitors the radiation situation in Russia in connection with fires in the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exclusion zone, the agency's press service told reporters. The radiation situation in Russia remains stable.
"In connection with the fires in the Chernobyl nuclear power plant exclusion zone, Rospotrebnadzor is monitoring the radiation situation in Russia in the border areas. According to the data, the radiation situation in Russia remains stable. Situation is under Rospotrebnadzor’s control", the statement reads.
Earlier, the website of Ukraine's Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources reported about fires in forests and abandoned villages in the vicinity of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
