Moderate magnitude earthquake hits Kuril Islands

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 201 kilometers of the city of Severo-Kurilsk

TASS, October 17. A magnitude 5.5 earthquake rocked Russia’s Far Eastern Kuril Islands on Sunday, the Kamchatka branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Geophysical Service said.

According to it, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 201 kilometers of the city of Severo-Kurilsk, at a depth of 40 kilometers.
