Fire at plant in Ufa contained
A source told TASS earlier that two methane-hydrogen tanks with the capacity of 25 cubic meters were on fire at the plant
UFA, January 25. /TASS/. The fire at the Ufaorgsintez plant has been contained and there is no threat of fire propagation, the press service of Bashneft company told TASS on Monday.
"The fire outbreak at Ufaorgsintez has been contained. There is no threat of fire spread. Operational services perform the cool-down of adjacent equipment. Resources and facilities are sufficient. One individual died and one more person was hospitalized with injuries as a result of the fire," the company said.
Key units of the plant continue operating and environmental monitoring is underway.
A source told TASS earlier that two methane-hydrogen tanks with the capacity of 25 cubic meters were on fire at the plant. One of them collapsed. Process piping was shut down and product burnout takes place, the Ministry of Emergencies said.
Ufaorgsintez (owned by Bashneft) is a gas processing and oil refining plant. It produces polypropylene, polyethylene, phenol, acetone and other petrochemical products.
