Interior ministry reports over 22,000 crime-related deaths last year in Russia

In total, according to the Interior Ministry, Russia registered over 2 mln crimes, as many as 50 regions recorded a rise in criminal activity, while the figure dropped in 35 regions

MOSCOW, January 21. /TASS/. Russia recorded more than 22,000 deaths as a result of criminal attacks committed in 2020, the country’s Ministry of Internal Affairs stated reporting about crime statistics.

"As a result of criminal attacks 22,700 people died, while 35,600 victims were seriously injured," according to the report. Rural areas account for 39.8% of deaths, while 67.2% of serious injuries were inflicted in the cities and urban-type settlements.
