16 terror gang members eliminated over past year in Chechnya, Ingushetia, says NAC

MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. Members of law enforcement and security services eliminated 16 members of the Byutukayev gang which included Ukrainian militants in Chechnya and Ingushetia in 2020, the Information Center of the National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) told TASS on Wednesday.

The notorious ringleader Byutukayev was eliminated in Chechnya’s Achkhoy-Martan District on January 20. "Security services were actively searching for Byutukayev and his gang, gradually narrowing the search area. During last year, as a result of determined actions of Russia’s Federal Security Service jointly with other law enforcement agencies, including within the framework of counter-terror operations in the territory of the Chechen Republic and the Republic of Ingushetia, 20 caches, six equipped bunkers with arms, ammunition and criminal paraphernalia, as well as 20 homemade explosive devices with an explosive yield of up to 15 kilograms were uncovered. During special operations, 16 members of the Byutukayev gang were neutralized including militants that arrived from Ukraine," the NAC emphasized.

Thus, it became possible to prevent numerous crimes and casualties.
