Advisor to Roscosmos CEO apprehended on suspicion of treason
The state corporation said that Ivan Safronov’s detention is not connected to his current occupation
OSCOW, July 7. /TASS/. Ivan Safronov, an advisor to the Roscosmos CEO on informational policy was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of treason, the state corporation told TASS, adding that Safronov’s detention is not connected to his current occupation.
"The Roscosmos press service has announced that the investigative agencies detained Safronov, an advisor to the CEO of Roscosmos today," the state corporation said. Roscosmos disclosed that Safronov was charged with treason. "An investigation is underway," the press service said, adding that the corporation is fully cooperating with the investigation.
Safronov was born in Moscow in 1990. In 2010, he graduated from the High School of Economics as a journalist. Between 2010 and 2020, he worked at Kommersant and briefly at Vedomosti, covering military and defense cooperation, the military-industrial complex and the space industry. In May, Safronov was appointed to the post of advisor to the Roscosmos CEO on informational policy.
