Gas explodes in apartment building in Nizhny Novgorod region
A gas cylinder exploded in an apartment on the ground floor of a two-story two entrance brick residential building, both floors have collapsed above the entrances
MOSCOW, April 8. / TASS /. A gas cylinder exploded in an apartment in a residential building in the village of Filinskoye, Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Russian Emergencies Ministry press service told TASS on Wednesday.
"At 23:56 Moscow time, information was received about an air-gas mixture explosion in a residential building with collapse of structures in the Filinskoye village, Nizhny Novgorod Region. Five people were saved, including one child. Potentially, one person is under the debris," the press service said.
As the Head of the village council Sergei Gerasimov, told TASS, four out of five rescued residents were not injured. "So far, four of the rescued were examined, everything is fine. Another person was sent in for medical examination," Gerasimov noted. According to him, another person is under the rubble, according to preliminary data, he is alive.
Gerasimov added that the 14 unit two-story building was not gasified. There are 25 people registered in it.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry told TASS that 28 people and nine vehicles are involved in search and rescue operation at the scene of the explosion.

A search for survivors is under way. The Ministry of Emergencies helicopter MI-8 is prepared for departure.
