Criminal proceedings initiated over murder of father of MMA fighter Yunusilau
According to preliminary data, late on April 11, the three suspects violently beat up the 46-year-old man due to personal animosity, a week later he succumbed to his injuries
MOSCOW, April 24. /TASS/. Investigators of the Moscow Region have initiated criminal proceedings in relation to three police officers from Orekhovo-Zuevo suspected of murdering the 46-year-old Sulli Yunusilau, father of MMA fighter Magomed Yunusilau, a representative of the regional directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee told TASS.
"The Orekhovo-Zuevo investigative department of the Main Investigative Directorate for the Moscow Region has initiated criminal proceedings in relation to three police officers <…> suspected of committing crimes under Article 111 Part 3 ("Causing intentional bodily harm") and Article 286 Part 3 ("Abuse of authority with the use of violence") of the Russian Criminal Code," the source said.
According to preliminary data, on the evening of April 11, the three suspects violently beat up the 46-year-old man due to personal animosity, landing several blows to the head and torso of Yunusilau, after which they abandoned the scene. The man was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a week later. "All three will be charged in the nearest future," the source added.
Earlier, a source in the region’s law enforcement organs informed that the father of MMA fighter Magomed Yunusilau, 46-year-old Sulli Yunusilau, has been beaten to death by Russian police officers in the Moscow Region. The regional police’s press service informed TASS that three police officers have been detained "on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm on a man born in the year 1973". "Currently, the police officers have been suspended from duty," the press service added.
