Putin expresses condolences to Egyptian president over deadly train crash

MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his condolences to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi over the deadly train crash that killed dozens of people. The Kremlin website published Putin’s telegram on Wednesday.

"Please accept my deepest condolences over the tragic aftermath of the train crash that took place at Cairo’s central station. Russia joins those who lost their relatives and close ones as a result of this tragedy in their grief, and hopes for the soonest recovery of those injured," the message states.

On Wednesday morning, a train smashed into the barrier at the central railway station of Cairo, killing at least 20 people and injuring over 40. The Egyptian leader ordered to find those responsible for the crash and duly punish them. Shortly after the incident, Egypt’s Transport Minister Hisham Arafat resigned from his post.
