Officers of Russian National Guard injured in Nazran attack
A source with Ingushetia’s healthcare service told TASS that the lives of injured National Guard officers were not in danger
PYATIGORSK, December 12. /TASS/. Two officers of the Russian National Guard were injured while detaining terrorist suspects in Nazran, the capital of the Russian North Caucasus region of Ingushetia, the press service of Russia’s National Guard's department for the North Caucasus district told TASS on Wednesday.
"Tonight, law enforcers were conducting an operation to detain suspects. One of the perpetrators threw a grenade. Two officers of the National Guard sustained wounds," the spokesman said adding that "thanks to prompt, clear, professional actions of Russian guards, civilians were not hurt."
Ingushetia's head Yunus-Bek Evkurov told TASS that law enforcement agencies have established the identities of persons who attacked officers in Nazran. "Both attackers were eliminated, and their identities were established. Law enforcement officers are conducting operational search activities," Evkurov said.
The incident occurred at about 6pm Moscow time in a shopping mall in Kartoev Street in Nazran. During an operation to detain the suspects, one of attackers hurled a grenade at law enforcers. As a result, two officers were injured. A source with Ingushetia’s healthcare service told TASS that their lives are not in danger.
