Hoax call about bomb aboard Aeroflot flight came from Sochi resident
Earlier it was reported that the plane landed in Irkutsk for inspection, but no bomb was found
MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. A telephone call to police about a bomb planted aboard an Aeroflot flight en route from Moscow to the Siberian city of Irkutsk came from a resident of the Black Sea resort of Sochi, a law enforcement source told TASS.
"Police received a bomb call when the aircraft was nearing Irkutsk. It was decided that it should land at the city airport and be inspected. After the landing, all passengers were quickly evacuated from the aircraft, no bomb was found," police said.
There were 119 passengers and six crew members aboard the plane.
"A pre-investigation probe into the hoax bomb call has been launched," the law enforcement source added.
A source in the Irkutsk regional police told TASS that the caller had been identified. "He is a Sochi resident, he is now being questioned," the source said, adding that the incident had not impacted airport operations.
