Unidentified person opens fire on National Guard officers in southern Russia

MOSCOW, November 29. /TASS/. An unidentified person opened fire on Thursday at officers of the Russian National Guard in southern Russian Krasnodar and was killed as one of the officers returned fire, agency’s spokesman Valery Gribakin has told TASS.

"According to early reports, an unidentified person opened fire at officers of the National Guard in Krasnodar in which two of them were wounded. The attacker was destroyed in return fire," he said.

Gribakin specified that the man had approached the vehicle in which two National Guard officers were sitting and opened fire through the glass. "One of the officers got out of the car and killed him in retaliatory fire. He was wounded in the hand," the spokesman said. The attacker has not been identified as of yet.

Both officers were hospitalized, one of them has already been operated on.

Gribakin stressed that the officers had acted in strict compliance with service instructions.

According to a source from a regional law enforcement agency, a second officer received a tangential head wound.
