Explosive device found in abandoned building in Russia's Far East
A local resident who was planning to commit a terrorist attack in Nikolaevsk-on-Amur has been recruited by a terrorist organization, a spokesperson for the local administration said
KHABAROVSK, October 25. /TASS/. An explosive device put together to carry out a terrorist attack in Nikolaevsk-on-Amur in the Far East was found in an abandoned building, a spokesperson for the city administration told TASS on Thursday.
"A self-made explosive device was found by FSB [Federal Security Service] officers in an abandoned building the Zavodskoy neighborhood. The suspect was working on it there," the spokesperson said. Local law enforcement agencies said that the explosive device has been seized from the suspect.

He spent time in prison for his crimes. That is when he was recruited by a terrorist organization," the spokesperson said.
FSB in the Khabarovsk Region has earlier thwarted a planned terrorist attack at a social facility in Nikolaevsk-on-Amur and detained the suspect. A criminal case has been opened over the incident, and the investigation is underway.
A source close to the investigation said that the incident occurred more than six months ago. The source added that the suspect is currently in a detention facility. A spokesperson for the local city administration said that a self-made explosive device was found in an abandoned building in the city's Zavodskoy neighborhood. Local media reported that the suspect was earlier sentenced for armed robbery.
