Crimea to hand over to security services reports on Ukraine's misinformation about Kerch
Crimea's Ministry of Internal Politics, Information and Communication said "such misinformation was intentionally distributed to create panic" during the college shooting in Kerch
SIMFEROPOL, October 22. /TASS/. Crimea's Ministry of Internal Politics, Information and Communication will hand over to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) information about the attempts by Ukrainian media and bloggers to distribute provocative misinformation during the Kerch tragedy, deputy minister Vadim Pervykh told TASS on Monday.
"The ministry registered multiple attempts by Ukrainian media and bloggers - which I do not want to name in order to avoid advertising them - to distribute misinformation during the tragedy in Kerch. All monitoring materials will be handed over to federal oversight agencies, including Roskomnadzor [Russian media and communications watchdog] and FSB," Pervykh said.
He noted that different reports emerged in social networks and in Ukrainian media about some masked people who allegedly stormed the building and killed many people. "In other words, such misinformation was intentionally distributed to create panic. We continue collecting those facts," the deputy minister said.
On October 17, a student a bomb and opened fire at Crimea's Kerch Polytechnic College detonated. Twenty people were killed, and over 50 were injured. The attacker committed suicide. A criminal case was opened over a terrorist attack, but was later reclassified as murder.
