MOSCOW, October 9. /TASS/. A 6-magnitude earthquake has been recorded in the Kuril Islands area, the US Geological Survey said.

According to the agency, the earthquake hit 138 kilometers south of the town of Severo-Kurilsk at a depth of 42 km.

Neither casualties nor damage nor a tsunami threat have been reported.
