MOSCOW, August 20. /TASS/. One police officer was killed and two fighters that attacked police officers in Grozny, Chechnya were eliminated, a police source informed TASS.
"One police officer was killed, two fighters were eliminated," the source stated.
The source added that a police officer died in the first attack. "In the second case, a car was driving at a high speed, the police officers tried to stop it. <…> There were two people in the car, both were killed, one of them is a young guy, his age is now being determined, he might be a minor. It was a Mercedes car," the source said, adding that two police officers were injured in the second attack."
According to him, both attacks probably had one organizer. "It is possible that one organization planned all the attacks. There have been two attacks in the city of Grozny," he said.
Another source told TASS that on Monday, around 11:00 Moscow time, unknown perpetrators attempted to injure police officers at a checkpoint on the way to Grozny. After that, according to the preliminary data, the same car, driven by the same people, hit police officers in the city center.
Chechnya’s Interior Ministry said earlier that two unknown men had wounded police officers while trying to enter the premises of the Interior Ministry’s office in the Shalinsky District. Both perpetrators were killed. One of them was carrying explosives, a source told TASS. An investigative team is working at the site. In addition, a regional emergency source told TASS that an unknown man had blown himself up in the vicinity of police officers in Chechnya’s Shalinsky District. However, there has been no official confirmation yet.
