Telegram to appeal decision on ban in Russia
The ban will stay in force until the FSB’s demands are met
MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. Lawyers representing the interests of Telegram in Russia plan to appeal the Moscow court’s decision on banning the messenger.
Attorneys of the Agora international association were unable to "take part in this farce today," lawyer Dmitry Kolbasin told TASS.
Friday’s hearing confirms the position of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, he noted. "Now it is important for us to get today’s court decision, to study it and certainly, the lawyers plan to appeal it," the attorney said.
Earlier on Friday, Moscow’s Tagansky court satisfied a demand of Russia’s telecom watchdog Roskomnadzor and blocked access to the Telegram messenger in Russia over its failure to furnish keys to the Federal Security Service to decrypt user messages.
The judge said the court’s decision would be implemented immediately and the ban on access would be in force until the FSB’s demands were met.
