Rosatom and Dutch Lagerwey set up joint venture to produce wind turbines in Russia
The enterprise will focus on supplying turbines for the needs of Rosatom
AMSTERDAM, November 30. /TASS/. NovaWind (part of Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom) and Dutch Lagerwey have set up a joint venture for the marketing, sale and turnkey production of wind turbines in Russia, a TASS correspondent reported from the ceremony of signing the agreement.
The enterprise is created on parity basis and at the initial stage will focus on supplying turbines for the needs of Rosatom.
"The joint venture has the license to operate in 14 countries, but now we are focusing only at Russia, as we need to start production, to expand it, reach the required level of quality," Emin Askerov, Deputy General Director for International Business development at NovaWind.
According to him, in the future the joint venture may cooperate with international partners of Rosatom.
"A number of international partners working with Rosatom in a normal mode in the nuclear industry, are already interested in the possibilities (of the new project). But we ask most of them to wait - as soon as we have production, we will be able to talk about something specific," Askerov said.
NovoWind was established on the base of VetroOGK company in September to implement the strategy of Rosatom for the development of wind energy. The company won contests for the construction of wind farms in Russia with an aggregate capacity of almost 1 GW.
It is planned that that local production of components for wind turbines will be established in Russia. Dutch company Lagerwey acts as a technological partner of the Russian company.
The two companies will start with the production of a 2.5 MW wind farm. In the long term, the partners plan to establish local production of a 4 MW turbine in Russia.
