Russian government may establish $1.7 bln digital economy fund
The digital economy development program will be announced on July 5
MOSCOW, June 28. /TASS/. The Russian government is currently discussing the prospect of setting up a digital economy fund totaling 100 bln rubles ($1.7 bln), Presidential Aide Andrei Belousov said in Wednesday.
"The government is presently discussing the topic of setting up a [digital economy - TASS] fund, quite similar to the Road Fund, in the amount of about 100 bln rubles ($1.7 bln) ," Belousov said. The figures are provisional, the official said. These funds will help in particular to develop infrastructure (networks, datacenters and hardware components) for the Russian digital economy, he said.
The digital economy development program will be announced on July 5, he added.
It was reported earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin asked the government to revise the Digital Economy program draft in terms of financing, provide for sources, mechanisms and financing volume of the program by July 1, 2017.
