Russia, Federated States of Micronesia on final stretch towards visa free travel
Under the draft agreement, the citizens of the two countries won’t need to apply for visas for trips no longer than 30 days if "they don’t intend to work, study or live in that country"
MOCOW, March 7. /TASS/. Russia and the Federated States of Micronesia are making moves towards signing an agreement to scrap visas.
An instruction to sign an agreement "on mutual cancellation of visa requirements for the citizens of Russian and the Federated States of Micronesia" was signed on March 3 and was posted on Tuesday on the official portal of legal information.
Under the document, the Russian Foreign Ministry has received instructions to conduct negotiations with the partner country and to sign on behalf of the Russian government the agreement, making not essential amendments in case of a need. The agreement was drafted by the Russian Foreign Ministry and the sides have looked into it together preliminarily.
Under the draft agreement, the citizens of the two countries won’t need to apply for visas for trips no longer than 30 days if "they don’t intend to work, study or live in that country". If the 30-day term is exceeded, it will be necessary to get a visa.
If approved, the agreement will take effect 30 days after the last written notification on the implementation by the sides of internal procedures necessary for its taking effect.
It terminates 60 days after a relevant notification by another side.
