Russia may increase retirement age in 6-18 years — ex-finance minister

Experts believe the retirement age increase is required in connection with growing number of pensioners
SOCHI, February 27. /TASS/. The retirement age may be increased in Russia in 6-18 years depending on categories of beneficiaries, Chief Executive of the Center for Strategic Research (CSR) Alexei Kudrin said on Monday on the air with NTV TV Channel at the Russian Investment Forum (Sochi 2017).
"The [retirement] age increase will take place in many years, probably during 6 or 18 years for certain categories," Kudrin said.
"We should not say this will be done in the nearest future. Nevertheless, it will make possible to maintain pensions at a decent level," he said. Experts believe the retirement age increase is required in connection with growing number of pensioners, Kudrin added.
