Antimonopoly watchdog postpones reviewing case against Microsoft till late January

MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has postponed consideration of the case against Microsoft based on Kaspersky Lab complaint to gather more information, FAS press service told TASS.
"The revision of the case against Microsoft was postponed at the request of Microsoft and due to the need to obtain additional evidence," FAS said, adding that the next meeting will be held in late January.
Microsoft told TASS that the trial was indeed postponed until the end of January 2017.
On November 10, FAS initiated a case against Microsoft on receiving a complaint from Kaspersky Lab anti-virus software manufacturer.
Earlier Kaspersky Lab filed a complaint to the FAS saying that Microsoft had reduced the time of adaptation for anti-virus software manufacturers from 2 months to 6 days.
A spokesman with Kaspersky Lab told TASS that Microsoft gives developers of anti-virus products only several days to make their solutions compatible with official edition of RTM-versions of Windows 10. During the release of Windows 8 and Windows 7 this terms was 2 months and 6 calendar days.
Kaspersky Lab also plans to address to the European Commission on this issue in the near future. The official said that the company "has long-standing and successful partnership" with Microsoft but a few months of negotiations did not give any results.
Head of the FAS Igor Artemiev said that the consideration of the case against Microsoft may take about six months.
