Source claims Kiev has about $700 mln to pay for Russian gas in winter

BRUSSELS, December 9. /TASS/. Ukraine has about $700 mln offered as international aid, which can be used to purchase Russian gas in winter period, a source at trilateral Russia-EU-Ukraine gas talks told TASS on Friday.

"Ukraine has sufficient funds to purchase Russian gas in winter period, if the need arises. This refers to the amount of about $700 mln provided as international aid over different channels," the source said.

Chief Executive of Ukraine’s Naftogaz Andrei Kobolev said earlier in Kiev that Ukraine may need up to 4 bln cubic meters of gas more.
