The Russian president hoped that common sense would prevail

LIMA, November 21. /TASS/.Russian President Vladimir Putin hopes Britain and the EU will have enough common sense to go through Brexit without deplorable aftermaths. He said it on Sunday as he spoke to reporters upon completion of the APEC summit in Peru.

"As for Brexit, much will depend on the form and pace of Britain’s pull out (from the EU)," Putin said. "There are definite risks, of course but I think everyone will have common sense because the EU and Britain have really good experts."

He also said he did not share the fears that the events related to Brexit might affect the APEC economies poorly.

"Naturally, there are questions of the kind and my counterparts ask them but everything will eventually get into right places in one way or another," Putin said.

He added he felt confident the situation would develop calmly.

"There shouldn’t be any fanning of fears," Putin said. "I doubt anyone will make steps to damage oneself - I mean our British and EU counterparts."
