Russia’s IT watchdog got no LinkedIn request on localizing personal data
A representative of LinkedIn earlier told TASS that the network was interested in meeting with Roskomnadzor’s representatives to discuss storing personal data
MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. Russia’s IT watchdog Roskomnadzor said on Friday representatives of LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network, have not yet addressed it on the issue on localizing personal data.
"No, no one has talked to us so far. Nothing has changed since yesterday," spokesman for Roskomnadzor Vadim Ampelonsky said.
A representative of LinkedIn earlier told TASS that the network was interested in meeting with Roskomnadzor’s representatives to discuss storing personal data.
On Thursday, the Moscow City Court rejected the appeal of LinkedIn against its blocking in Russia. The lower Tagansky district court earlier ruled to fulfill Roskomnadzor’s demand to ban LinkedIn for violating the law on personal data localization.
Roskomnadzor's spokesman told TASS that the watchdog may block LinkedIn in the beginning of the next week already.
Situation on Russian labor market and the network ban
The situation on Russia’s labor market will not change after the world's largest professional network LinkedIn is blocked in Russia, Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets, who is charge of social issues, told TASS, adding that neither will employment opportunities change for Russian citizens.
"Will not impact," she said when asked whether the initiative to block the social network will influence the situation on the Russian labor market.
According to Golodets, the Russian Federal Labour and Employment Agency's offering employment opportunities is also popular in the county:
"More than 4 mln people found job via this website last year. This resource is very popular as it offers vacancies both from a regional perspective and regarding professions," the deputy PM said.
