Russia-Japan economic cooperation commission due to meet in Tokyo
After the meetings of the leaders in Sochi in May and in Vladivostok in September, the relations between Japan and Russia demonstrate a stable tendency towards development
TOKYO, November 11. /TASS/. Japan’s Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida announced officially another meeting of the Russia-Japan intergovernmental commission on trade and economy is due in Tokyo on November 15.
The meeting will feature Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, the minister told reporters after a meeting of the Japanese government on Friday.
"After the meetings of the leaders in Sochi in May and in Vladivostok in September, the relations between Japan and Russia demonstrate a stable tendency towards development," the foreign minister said. "In the economy, we discuss details of bilateral cooperation plan’s eight items, develop cooperation in other spheres."
"I hope, during the upcoming meeting of the intergovernmental commission on November 15 we shall have a detailed exchange of opinions on the entire spectrum of the economic relations."
Kishida and Shuvalov co-chair the intergovernmental commission. Its meeting is a stage in preparations for the visit of the Russian president to Japan, scheduled for mid-December. Prior to the visit, Vladimir Putin and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will have a bilateral meeting in late November in Peru during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.
