Sberbank, Central Bank mull cyberattack info exchange system
Each bank has its own database about various types of frauds, but there is no efficient way to share this information, Sberbank Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board Stanislav Kuznetsov told TASS.
MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. Sberbank and the Central Bank of Russia are in talks about setting up a joint platform to swap information about cyberattacks, Sberbank Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board Stanislav Kuznetsov told TASS Friday.
"There is an idea to create a platform for exchanging close information about (scam) attempts, frauds, compromised electronic cards, phone numbers, names of criminals and so on. This work is under way with the Bank of Russia," he said. "It is in a great demand, including by law-enforcement structures."
The official said that each bank has its own database about various types of frauds, but there is no efficient way to share this information.
"We gathered to discuss this problem. This in one of the first tasks that should help us to create an efficient information sharing process among us," Kuznetsov said, adding that the project involves security services from a number of Russia’s biggest banks.
On Tuesday, the Russian Central Bank reported a series of DDoS-attacks on a number of major banks.
According to a Russian Internet security company, Kaspersky Lab, hackers attacked websites of at least five prominent financial institutions from the top-10. This series of attacks was the first large-scale DDoS-wave this year, aimed at Russian banks.
