LinkedIn interested in meeting with Russia’s IT watchdog — spokesman
A court earlier ruled to fulfill demand to ban LinkedIn for violating the law on personal data localization
MOSCOW, November 10. /TASS/. LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network, is interested in meeting with Russia’s IT watchdog Roskomnadzor’s representatives, the network spokesman said.
"We are still interested in meeting with Roskomnadzor to discuss the personal data localization issue," the spokesman told TASS.
Earlier on Thursday the Moscow City Court rejected the appeal of LinkedIn against its blocking in Russia.
The lower Tagansky district court earlier ruled to fulfill Roskomnadzor’s demand to ban LinkedIn for violating the law on personal data localization.
Roskomnadzor spokesman Vadim Ampelonsky told TASS that the watchdog may block LinkedIn in the beginning of the next week already.
The social network says that the LinkedIn Ireland company is responsible for processing the personal data kept outside of the US while Roskomnadzor has filed a lawsuit against LinkedIn Corporation.
"Roskomnadzor has failed to provide any evidence that the US LinkedIn Corporation is responsible for processing the Russian users’ personal data," the company’s lawyer stated in court.
Representative of Roskomnadzor rejected LinkedIn’s lawyers’ statements and said that "we are lodging claims against the domain name administrator which is LinkedIn Corporation. According to its official website, the corporation is responsible for the information and services provided through facilities located outside of the US, that belong to LinkedIn Corporation," Roskomnadzor’s lawyer said.
