More than 20 flights cancelled, 60 flights delayed at Moscow airports

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. About twenty flights have been cancelled and another sixty delayed at Moscow airports, as follows from the data provided by Yandex.Schedules service.
At around midnight Moscow Standard Time (21:00 hours UTC), five flights were cancelled and twenty-five delayed at Domodedovo. Sheremetyevo had sixteen cancellations and 38 delays.
The service did not have data on Vnukovo and Zhukovsky airports.
The Russian Federal Service for Civil Aviation (Rosaviatsiya) issued an appeal for airline customers earlier on Monday to leave for the airports with a big reserve of time before the flight and to treat cancellations with understanding.
Rosaviatsiya’s official spokesman Sergey Izvolsky warned brief delays of up to an hour were possible in arrivals, too, as the weather in the area of the Moscow Airport Cluster remained highly constrictive and the air navigation authorities continued preventive measures to normalize the arrivals and departures amid bad weather.
Moscow region branch of the Emergencies Ministry issued a warning on Monday night about dense fog with the visibility range of 100m to 500m that would not dispel until dawn on Tuesday.
It also warned about possible complications for automobile traffic and an expected increase in the number of road accidents.
Moscow City Meteorological Bureau said the depth of snow cover totaled 15cm to 20cm on Monday, which exceeds the norm by a factor of almost five. In the afternoon, snowfall gave way to rain and an ice film accumulated on the roads.
At the time of reporting, mixed precipitation continued.
