South Korea’s Samsung Electronics and the Russian Railways company have signed a preliminary agreement on shipments to Eastern Europe
SEOUL, October 18. /TASS/. South Korea’s Samsung Electronics and the Russian Railways company have signed a preliminary agreement on shipments to Eastern Europe by Trans-Siberian railway, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported.
According to the news agency, Samsung plans to switch from marine transportation to railroad shipment. This will allow Samsung to reduce the delivery time from 35 days now to 18 days.
"Through close collaboration with Russian Railways, Samsung will endeavor to build up a more efficient and economical logistics network and diversify transportation routes to mitigate unexpected global risks," Samsung said in a statement.
When the container ships arrive in Vladivostok from Samsung's plants in South Korea and China, the containers will be moved via the Russian railway to Slovakia, Hungary and Poland, the statement said.
