Russian regulator may allow alcohol ads on Internet, in printed media but with restriction
The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service finds it possible amid the crisis to allow advertisement of spirits
KOSTROVO /Moscow region/, September 27. /TASS/. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) finds it possible amid the crisis to allow advertisement of spirits on the Internet and in printed media but with some restrictions, head of the regulator Igor Artemyev told reporters.
"If it is done little by little, than during the economic crisis it (advertisement of spirits) can be supported in printed media. In magazines and papers the restriction may concern the space of advertising. As for online publications, perhaps, we can talk about types of advertising - what is allowed and what is not," Artemyev said.
The Head of FAS said that he is not the supporter of the initiative to allow advertising of spirits, and it would be good, "to abstain of this initiative for another 50 years."
"We have a very cautious stance on alcohol and tobacco. For our country it is a dangerous thing. Such steps on possible winder advertising of alcohol on the Internet and elsewhere should be done with great care," Artemyev said.
