Russian energy ministry: Japan suggests establishing joint energy council

MOSCOW, September 20. /TASS/. Japan suggests establishing a joint Russian-Japanese energy council to deal with hydrocarbon resources, nuclear energy and renewable energy sources, Russian Energy Ministry said on Tuesday after the meeting with the Director-General of Japan’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy Hirohide Hirai.

"The parties stressed that negotiations held on September 2 in Vladivostok between leaders of two countries - Vladimir Putin and Shinz· Abe - on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum provided a strong impetus for further broadening of bilateral cooperation," the Russian Ministry of Energy said.

Japanese partners suggested considering the issue of setting up a Russian-Japanese advisory energy council and forming discipline working groups within its framework, the Ministry reported.
