Russia's wheat export may rise by 5 mln tonnes after slashing export duty
VLADIVOSTOK, September 2. /TASS/. Reduction of wheat export duty to zero may boost its export by 5 mln tonnes, Russia’s First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Dzhambulat Khatuov said on Friday.
Russia may export 30 mln tonnes in this agricultural year (from July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017), the official said.
"This [export duty slashing to zero - TASS] will positively influence on export. We exported 25 mln tonnes in the last agricultural year in terms of wheat only. We expect Russia will export 30 mln tonnes this year," he said.
The proposal of the Agriculture Ministry to set the wheat export duty rate to zero was supported on August 30 at the meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, Khatuov said earlier.
The wheat export duty is effective in Russia since summer 2015.
