Kiev has not yet taken formal action in WTO on its transit delays
MOSCOW, August 22. /TASS/. Ukraine planned to submit a request to the World Trade Organization (WTO) regarding additional transit restrictions imposed by Russia on Ukraine’s goods but no formal action has been undertaken yet, department director of Russian Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Medvedkov told TASS on Monday.
"Ukraine declared an intention to dispute them in the WTO tribunal but no formal action has been undertaken yet," Medvedkov said.
It was reported earlier Ukraine disseminated a statement within the WTO framework on its negative attitude towards changes introduced by the decree of the Russian President Vladimir Putin. This document simply contains Ukraine’s position and is not formally a complaint after which official proceedings within the WTO start, Russian Ministry of Economic Development said in a comment.
Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier signed a decree on economic security measures during transit carriage of goods from Ukraine to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan via Russia. According to the document, such transportation can only take place from the territory of Belarus on condition of use of identification aids (seals) for freight compartments.
