One more fine may be imposed on Google if failing to meet FAS directive
Eight days are left for Google to perform FAS directive
MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. One more fine may be imposed on Google if the corporation fails to meet the directive of the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) to cure violations of antimonopoly laws, FAS said on Wednesday.
"Google has eight days to perform FAS directive from the time of court judgment preparation in full scope. Otherwise they will face a new penalty," press service of the regulator said.
It was reported earlier that the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal rejected Google's appeal against the case of the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS).
"The court upheld the decision of the court of original jurisdiction," Head of FAS Department for Regulation of Communications and Information Technologies Elena Zaeva told journalists.
"We are certainly pleased that the court upheld the judgment in favor of FAS. Soon as it enters into force, and we hope that in the near future, Google will perform the issued order in full," Zaeva said.
At the same time, FAS will enforce Google ruling. "We expect to see the situation favorable for the development of competition in the market, it is the most important thing," she added, saying that Google has not yet paid the fine.
Yandex, witness in the case, also expressed support for the court's decision. "We are pleased with the decision, once again it confirms the conclusions reached by the Federal Antimonopoly Service Commission on anti-competitive practices on Google on Android platform," Yandex press-service said.
On August 16, FAS said they failed to reach an agreement with Google on amicable agreement.
