MOSCOW, August. /TASS/. Experts of Russian veterinary and phytosanitary watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor will visit Turkey on August 1-6 to consider an opportunity for lifting earlier imposed import restrictions, the regulator told TASS on Friday.

"Russian specialists will visit production, packaging and phytosanitary certification sites for vegetable produce. Special attentions will be paid to examination of activities implemented by Turkish farmers to combat pests of quarantine significance for Russia," the regulator said.

Russia banned import of bell pepper, pomegranates, aubergines, lettuce, Iceberg lettuce, marrows and pumpkins from Turkey because of phytosanitary considerations in spring 2016.

According to results of such work Rosselkhoznadzor will consider the possibility of lifting earlier introduced restrictions on relevant kinds of products with high phytosanitary risk, official spokesperson of the regulator Yuliya Melano told TASS earlier.
