Nord Stream-2 partners preparing answer to objections of Polish regulator
The Nord Stream-2 project includes the construction of two lines of the offshore gas pipeline from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea
BERLIN, July 26. /TASS/. Companies participating in the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project - Gazprom, Engie, OMV, Shell, Uniper and Wintershall - are currently drafting a joint response to objections of Poland’s competition and consumer rights protection department (UOKiK) to the gas pipeline construction project, representative of Uniper SE Georg Oppermann told TASS on Monday.
"We, the applicants, including Uniper SE, are currently drafting a joint response to UOKiK decision", Oppermann said. "It cannot be made earlier than expiry of the timeline provided by the law for response preparation. We will have to wait until then," he added.
Companies earlier presented a joint notice to the Poland’s antimonopoly regulator for endorsement of their joint participation in Nord Stream 2 AG - the special project vehicle for the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline projects. UOKiK presented its Statement of Objections to companies on July 19.
The Nord Stream-2 project includes the construction of two lines of the offshore gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 bln cubic meters of gas a year from Russia to Germany under the Baltic Sea, in addition to the existing two lines. The project is to be implemented by the new engineering company New European Pipeline AG. The stakes of partners in Nord Stream 2 AG will be distributed as follows: Gazprom will hold 50%, while BASF, Uniper, Engie, OMV and Shell will own 10% each.
