The Kremlin spokesman says the ruble requires measures regarding export-oriented industries
MOSCOW, July 20. /TASS/. The Kremlin believes that the strengthening of the ruble requires "fine tuning" in different sectors of the economy and the search for balance to support them, press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov.
"It (the ruble) requires any measures regarding export-oriented industries. This requires such adjustments that should be prepared in advance," he said.
The Kremlin spokesman said that, on the one hand, the strengthening of the national currency has some positive aspects, but on the other - requires certain measures with regard to a number of industries.
"It is necessary to find the best balance so as not to get entirely immersed in favor of one sector of the economy," Peskov said.
On Tuesday, at a meeting with Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, Russian President Vladimir Putin said:
"We are closely watching what is happening in the economy, and we know that now there is certain strengthening of the national currency. The ruble is strengthening despite certain price volatility on commodity markets. In this regard, we, of course, need to think what we will do in relation to these factors in the near future."
