Gazprom believes renewables can't threaten gas supplies to Europe — CEO
Gazprom may increase its gas export to Europe up to 170 bln cubic meters in 2016
MOSCOW, June 30. /TASS/. Gazprom does not believe renewable energy sources may threaten its gas supplies to Europe, Chief Executive Officer of the Russian gas holding Alexei Miller said on Thursday.
"My opinion in respect of renewable energy sources is that expectations are probably extremely overstated," Miller said. Germany is main partner of Gazprom and simultaneously the leader in renewable energy sources, he said. "Germany set a record last year - 45.4 bln cubic meters of gas per year and shows outstanding growth of 1.5 bln cubic meters of gas yearly. At the same time, this country takes the lead in renewable energy sources," Miller added.
Gazprom may increase its gas export to Europe up to 170 bln cubic meters in 2016, Miller said earlier.
