Lukoil confirms interest in development of fields in Iran
Decision on foreign investors’ access to Iranian fields will be prepared by October
ST. PETERSBURG, June 16. /TASS/. Lukoil expects to begin consistent work at the fields in Iran, CEO of the company Vagit Alekperov said on Thursday in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel.
"Iran is the largest country in oil and gas reserves. All operators in the energy sector are interested in it. And today, of course, we know the field like no one else, because we have worked there before the sanctions and together with the partners opened some large deposits. That is why we would like to return no these deposits," he said.
According to Alekperov, Lukoil is considering participation in the development of Anaran field. "It all depends on the kind of legislation that would be approved," he noted.
The Iranian government is going to prepare a law regulating the admission of foreign investors in the oil and gas fields of the country by October 2016, he said.
