Kyrgyzstan favors boosting economic cooperation between Eurasian Economic Union, CIS
The agenda of the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government underway in Bishkek includes two dozen issues, including cooperation in the energy sector and in the cultural area
BISHKEK, June 7. /TASS/. The countries' independence aimed at joint work within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in many areas is growing amid the changing world order and emergence of new cross-border challenges and threats, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Sooronbai Jeenbekov said on Tuesday at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government.
"We believe it is necessary to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the CIS and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member-countries. We believe it is possible to consider imposing in the future the large-scale free trade regime between the two integration associations that will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of our countries, especially in times of economic hardships," he said.
Jeenbekov also invited the participants in the meeting to take part in the opening ceremony of the second World Nomad Games to be held in Kyrgyzstan in September. "We are convinced that the Games will provide a good platform not only for sports but also for active intercultural and interethnic dialogue between the peoples of the world," he said.
The agenda of the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government underway in Bishkek includes two dozen issues, including cooperation in the energy sector and in the cultural area. The Russian delegation at the meeting is led by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
