Many EU representatives in Davos doubt sanctions usefulness — Russian deputy PM
"Many of our colleagues say that the sanctions are not beneficial to Russia and the European community," Russian Vice-Premier Yuri Trutnev said at the World Economic Forum in Davos
DAVOS, January 22 /TASS/. Representatives of the European Union told their Russian colleagues on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum that they doubted the usefulness of the anti-Russian sanctions, Russian Vice-Premier Yuri Trutnev, the head of the Russian delegation, told the forum.
"Opinions over whether sanctions can be extended are divided. Many of our colleagues say that the sanctions are not beneficial to Russia and the European community," Trutnev told journalists.
Trutnev said he had held a number of meetings with representatives of the oil-exporting countries, which criticized OPEC and suggested taking account of the interests of countries that are not members of the international oil-exporting club when decision concerning oil prices are made.
"They said that today OPEC may not be an organization, which meets the interests of world development. Perhaps, we should learn to take more account of the positions of all oil-exporting countries," Trutnev said.
