Pfizer to launch joint production with Russia’s Polysan in St. Petersburg — source

Polysan has manufacturing plants in St. Petersburg and Belgorod

ST. PETERSBURG, January 20. /TASS/. The US pharmaceuticals producer Pfizer will launch a joint production with St. Petersburg-based scientific and technological pharmaceutical company Polysan, a source familiar with the matter told TASS, adding that the sides are expected to sign the agreement in end-January.

"In end-January an agreement will be signed on production of Pfizer medicines in St. Petersburg and its localization. At the same time a joint production with Polysan pharm producer will be announced," the source said.

An official in St. Petersburg confirmed to TASS such an agreement is being prepared, saying that the signing is planned for January 25.

A representative of Polysan said when commenting the information that the company’s policy "is aimed at development of local pharmaceutical industry, including via cooperation with leading global pharma producers."

Polysan has manufacturing plants in St. Petersburg and Belgorod. In St. Petersburg, the company produces 4 its own brands of medicines, as well as a neurological drug within partnership with German Stada. In 2015, Polysan signed a 10-year agreement with German pharmaceuticals giant Bayer.

Polysan products are supplied to all regions in Russia, to the former CIS countries, South East Asia, Latin America and Mongolia.
