Russia ready to set up ‘green corridor’ for agricultural supplies from Iran — minister

Supplies of vegetables and fruit gather pace, and export of Iranian meat and dairy products is in the way

TEHRAN, January 19. /TASS/. Russia is ready to set up a ‘green corridor’ for agricultural supplies from Iran, Russian Minister of Agriculture Alexander Tkachev said on Tuesday after the meeting with Iran’s Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati.

"We need to establish modern logistics on the way of Iranian goods to Russia, create a ‘green corridor’ on the Russian border for Iranian goods and ease customs formalities to speed up clearance of Iranian cargoes," the Russian minister said.

Supplies of vegetables and fruit gather pace, and export of Iranian meat and dairy products is in the way, Tkachev said. "We have inspected Iranian dairy companies for the time being, which will start exporting its products to Russia in the nearest future," the minister added.

Russia has permitted supplies of milk dairy products from 4 enterprises in Iran starting from January 19, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance said earlier on Tuesday. The Russian watchdog issued its permission for supplies of milk and dairy products by the following companies: Fars Pegah Pasteurized Milk, Golpayegan Pegah Dairy, Kalleh Dairyproduction and Tehran Pegah Pasteurized Milk. These companies produce a wide range of dairy products - milk, cream, yogurt, different types of cheese.

"A reliable mechanism of settlements in national currencies should also be established," the Russian minister added.
