Turkey does not want cancellation of Akkuyu nuclear power plant project — energy minister
Agreements are in place imposing obligations on Russia and Turkey, Turkey’s minister of energy and natural resources says
ANKARA, December 17. /TASS/. Work under the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project continues and Turkey wants it to be implemented, Turkey’s minister of energy and natural resources Berat Albayrak said on Thursday.
"No statements regarding Turkey were received from companies [involved in NPP construction]. Work continues. Agreements are in place imposing obligations on Russia and Turkey. We have not received anything official regarding negative processes in the project," the minister said.
Items pertaining to payment of compensation in case of Akkuyu NPP project cancellation are stipulated within the framework of agreements, Albayrak said.
"It would not be proper to speak about that now. We do not want it [project cancellation — TASS]. We wait when this project will move towards implementation," he added.
