According to Russia's former Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin, it is necessary to focus on the introduction of political sanctions against Turkey

MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Russia should act with caution when introducing sanctions against Turkey, head of the Committee of Civil Initiatives and ex-Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin told TASS on Friday.

"I would say that the introduction of economic sanctions against Turkey should be treated with caution, I do not rule out such sanctions. But we must understand that some of our industries in Russia are very seriously dependent on trade and supply of components from Turkey. In this regard, some sanctions may lead to a significant deterioration of the Russian entire industries and therefore such sanctions should be very well-considered and selective,"- he said.

Kudrin added that it is necessary to focus on the introduction of political sanctions against Turkey.

"On the other hand, I would lay an emphasis not on economic sanctions but on political ones, which concern relations on political level, contacts, relevant systems of mutual aid between the two countries," - Kudrin said.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Thursday, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said that Russia will introduce restrictions against Turkey and freeze a number of joint projects in response to Turkey’s attacking the Su-24 plane.
