Russian air carriers say Boeing 737 aircraft’s design-manufacturing deficiency not proven
The Interstate Aviation Committee has suspended the certificate for all Boeing-737 aircraft in Russia
MOSCOW, November 6. /TASS/. There is no well-reasoned evidence of design-manufacturing deficiency in Boeing 737 aircraft pitch control system, the resident of the Russian Association of Air Transport Operators, Vladimir Tasun, has told TASS.
"One should be on strong ground for giving findings on Boeing 737 design-manufacturing deficiency, which jeopardizes flights safety, and the need to suspend all flights of this type. The problem with pitch control system, which allegedly caused the air crash in Kazan, and which the Interstate Aviation Committee (IAC) is referring to, is one of the theories. The theory is not evidence of Boeing 737 being dangerous. Representatives of Boeing, which participated in inquiry into Kazan crash, had no complaints against aircraft condition," he said.
Association of Air Transport Operators comprises 19 top Russian airlines, which account for more than 80% of the whole flow of traffic in the country.
As was reported on November 5, the Interstate Aviation Committee suspended the certificate for all Boeing-737 aircraft in Russia until receiving a joint notice of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency and the US Federal Aviation Administration on the aircraft airworthiness.
Federal Air Transport Agency will hold a meeting later on Friday with representatives of airlines, the IAC and the US company Boeing, on Boeing-737 aircraft operating prospects.
