SOCHI, October 4. /TASS/. Russia’s companies may export meat and meat products to China worth hundreds of millions of dollars, the first deputy economic development minister, Alexei Lichachev has told TASS.

The issue on the access of Russia’s meat to the Chinese market is due to be discussed at the session of the intergovernmental commission chaired by deputy prime ministers of the two countries, Dmitry Rogozin and Wang Yang, on the sidelines of EXPO in northeast China’s Harbin in mid-October.

"Now the talk is about the supplies estimated at dozens of millions of dollars. I think we will be able to reach the greater sums, namely hundreds of millions on condition that the Chinese veterinarian services solve the issues of access to the market," Likhachev said.

The official stressed that Russia’s agricultural products are in high demand in China due to their quality, adding that the country’s manufacturers could significantly increase the supplies if the issue on the access to the Chinese market is solved.

"Our manufacturers of agricultural products, especially meat and meat products, show great activity on the access to the market of China," Likhachev said. "China is a country that is efficiently using the methods of government control of the food market and that’s why here the support for our enterprises will be simply needed," he said.
