MOSCOW, September 22. /TASS/. Alternative energy and use of renewable energy sources is a promising area of interaction with Japan, Russia’s First Deputy Energy Minister Alexey Teksler said after the meeting of the Russian-Japanese intergovernmental commission on trade and economic issues.
"Installation was completed and the startup process of the first wind energy unit in Kamchatka Region was initiated in 2015. This is the joint project of Russia’s RAO Energy System of East and Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization. A construction project of liquefied hydrogen facility in Magadan Region is also considered," Teksler said.
Japan’s companies are acting not merely as consumers of Russian raw materials but also as investors and equipment suppliers, Teksler added. "A range of major energy project is successfully implemented, including Sakhalin-1 and Sakhalin-2, where Japan’s companies hold equity interests. Novatek is cooperating with Japanese companies in the sphere of implementing construction projects of liquefied natural gas production on Yamal and Gydan peninsulas and on the issue of supplying LNG produced by these projects to the Japan’s market," the first deputy minister of energy said.
