Russia will start supplying Sukhoi superjet-100 to Iran if sanctions are lifted — company
Iran wants to buy dozens of Sukhoi Superjet-100 aircraft
ZHUKOVSKY (MOSCOW REGION) /August 27./ TASS/ Sukhoi Civil Aircraft will start supplying SSJ100 jets to Iran if sanctions against the country are lifted, the company president Ilya Tarasenko told journalists at the MAKS-2015 international air show on Thursday.
"We are actively working with our Iranian partners; they have a very strong interest in buying our aircrafts. They have a very old fleet and well developed regional network of airports. So, when the sanctions are lifted against Iran, we will equip these aircraft," Tarasenko said.
According to him, Iran needs approximately 100 airplanes. "Right now, we are actively developing a network route where regional jets can fly," he added.
Russian Deputy Minister of Industry Andrey Boginsky said Iran is interested in supplies of dozens of Sukhoi Superjet 100 [SSJ] short-haul aircraft and consultations are underway.
"Iran is seriously interested and consultations are held on this issue. Most likely, these can be dozens [of aircraft]," Boginsky said.
"It is difficult to indicate a specific figure because coordination and the route network analysis are underway. The decision will be made on that basis, in what scope and when supplies will be implemented," the deputy minister said.
